creative Therapy

Kris Tuey

I’ve been doing art since before I can remember. My mother says I used to paint our picket fence in the buff. These days I’m usually clothed as I create. Lately I’m most enthralled with collage, altered art, working with canvases, ATCs, paint, paint and more paint. I love to hand-quilt, needle felt and experiment with metal.    However, I’m attempting to broaden my scope of knowledge this year and work with items or techniques I’ve not played with much such as: assemblage, encaustic art, soldering, power tools, my sewing machine and bookbinding. On a good day, I can see MAYBE a foot of space on my art desk and I’m in a never-ending organization battle with my supplies. I’m a collector of all things vintage or ephemera, I have a lace & trim obsession and I’ve never seen a garage sale for which I didn’t stop.

By day, I’m a homeschooling mom of 2 girls, one doing high school work (scary!) I’m married to a extremely patient man of 20 years who looks the other way most the time when I avoid cooking & laundry like the plague, in favor of art. We’re a very artsy family, preferring to have art supplies ready at hand in almost every room.
